The minimum uptime requirements for running your node is 8 hours per day, with a day starting at 00:00 UTC and finishing at 23:59 UTC on the same calendar day. It's important to note that if you start your node at 20:00 UTC, and stop it at 04:00 UTC the following calendar day, it will not count as 8 hours of uptime for that time period, instead it will count as 4 hours for each individual calendar day.
We recommend running your node as long as possible to ensure you are always connected to the network, and gaining uptime.
The Master Node Software is currently in a beta form, and as such is missing a signed certificate. Due to this, you may receive a popup on your device regarding this, and you can safely ignore this warning and continue anyway.
Uptime calculations are based entirely on UTC timezones. This means that you must have a total uptime of 8 hours, residing between 00:00 UTC and 23:59 UTC on the same day.
Whilst the Master Node Software is in it's beta form, you will only need to run a single instance of the application, regardless of the number of nodes you own in a single wallet.
If you own multiple nodes across multiple wallets, you will need to run multiple instances of the Master Node Software for each wallet with nodes in it. For example:
Scenario A: I own 2 nodes in wallet A
You only need to run a single instance of the Master Node Software
Scenario B: I own 3 nodes, 1 in wallet A, 2 in wallet B
You need to run two separate instances of the Master Node Software, authenticating one with wallet A, and the other with wallet B
Currently, the GUI application of the Master Node Software only supports Windows as the operating system. We will release an executable application that Mac supports in the future, however for now please follow the Docker: Installing & Running guide to run your node on a non-Windows operating system.
Whilst the Master Node Software is in it's beta form, you will still earn rewards regardless of how long you run the software. However, this is an opportunity for you to start getting used to running the software, as reward disqualification will occur after approximately 30 days once the beta has released.
Running the Master Node Software connects you to the Master Node Network, alongside all other users running the software. This network provides a vehicle for storing NFT metadata, game statistics and related data, and also performing non-critical computations.
The Master Node Network will be made publicly available for interacting with at some point in the future.
Rewards that would have been earned by nodes that have been disqualified due to not meeting the network uptime requirements are distributed into the reward pool for all other nodes.
This means that if 10% of nodes do not meet the uptime requirement threshold, the rewards that those nodes would have earned are distributed amongst the 90% of nodes that did meet the uptime requirement threshold.
This is a known issue at this time, and something we aim to have resolved for the full release of the software. In the meantime, you can checkout for more information.
